began sewing at age five, and is chastised to this day for breaking her mother's sewing machine! After eight years of designing apparel for two of America's largest retailers, Rebecca branched off from the corporate world and
started her own business. She currently designs and creates one-of-a-kind baby bedding and apparel in her Minneapolis design studio.
There is not a fiber art that can slow her down. Rebecca enjoys hand and machine knitting, crocheting, weaving, fabric printing, but sewing and apparel design have always been her greatest crafting passions. Looking at her fabric fiber stash, it would appear she has the Grey Gardens of fabric collections, which serves as a great source of inspiration.
Rebecca has enjoyed endless notoriety through her creations of sock monkey apparel, including the famed Sock Monkey Dress. Trish Hoskins (left) is the co-founder of Crafty Planet, a retail fabric & needlework store plus craft workshop located in Minneapolis, MN. She's taught hundreds of new sewers, knitters, and crocheters how to indulge their fiber lust, and has designed several of the patterns used in Crafty Planet classes. Her favorite crafting activity varies from day to day, if not hour to hour, but she enjoys knitting, crocheting, spinning, sewing, quilting, embroidery, and cross-stitching equally … until the next great project catches her eye. Most of all she enjoys teaching others and helping them find the bliss hidden within a great big stash of beautiful textiles. Crafty Planet has been featured in a variety of articles in local and national press, including: cover story in City Pages; Sew News magazine features; Cookie Magazine; and more. Rebecca and Trish are both proud to be part of the organizing team behind No Coast Craft-o-Rama, a local indie holiday craft show attracting 10,000 shoppers each year. |
